A Florida woman was shocked when she was labeled ‘black chick’ on the receipt for her order at a popular campus smoothie shop.

Cassandra Peoples knows that she told the employees at Tropical Smoothie Cafe on Archer Road in Gainesville her name, so the receipt was simply jarring.

“When I saw black chick where the name was supposed to be, I’m like, ‘I know I told them Cassandra,’” Peoples told CBS 4 Gainesville.

Peoples said that she had not noticed the receipt until after she had left the smoothie shop, but when she tried to call corporate, she only got a voicemail box.

“I’ve never experienced anything disrespectful like that before,” she told the station of the experience. “I wouldn’t say it’s racist, it’s just disrespectful. I mean I want some answers.”

After Peoples posted a picture of her receipt to Facebook, Julie Bartz, the general manager of the Tropical Smoothie branch, reportedly publicly posted that the employee had been fired hours after the receipt was made public, according to the Independent Florida Alligator.

“This type of conduct clearly does not reflect the values of our brand or our commitment to creating a welcoming environment at each and every location,” the company’s statement read.
