In a new interview with Complex magazine, Kobe talked about who he wants to introduce him that night: ex-coach Phil Jackson and mentor Michael Jordan.

Speaking on why, Kobe said:

“They’ve been the greatest mentors, not only in my career as an athlete but also as a person. And what I might say is just a lot of thank yous. Cause I’ve had a lotta help along the way. A lotta lotta help.”

Those are two very interesting choices for Bryant: Phil Jackson coached Bryant for 11 seasons, winning five titles for the LA Lakers in the process.

Kobe never played with Jordan, but during Bryant’s first couple of seasons in the league it was clear that he was trying to mimic some of his game and mannerisms.

Bryant retired at the end of the 2015-16 season. On December 18, Lakers will retire his  No. 8 and No. 24 jerseys.
